1) Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Garrison Ledger (the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Platform.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Family Media, LLC ("we", "us", "our"), a New York limited liability company operating Garrison Ledger.
2) Definitions
- "Services" means all features, tools, content, and functionality provided through the Garrison Ledger platform.
- "User" or "You" means any person or entity using the Platform.
- "Premium Tools" means our 4 subscription-only features: LES Auditor, PCS Copilot, Base Navigator, and Ask Military Expert.
- "Free Tools" means our 6 calculator tools available to all users: TSP Allocation Modeler, SDP Payout Strategist, House Hacking Calculator, Military Salary Calculator, PCS Planner, and On-Base Savings Calculator.
- "Content" means all text, graphics, images, data, software, and other materials provided through the Platform.
3) Account Registration
To access Premium Tools, you must create an account. Account registration and authentication are handled through Clerk, our secure authentication provider.
Eligibility: You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement.
Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. Notify us immediately at support@garrisonledger.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
Accurate Information: You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update your information as needed.
4) Subscription & Billing
Subscription Tiers
Garrison Ledger offers two subscription options for Premium Tools access:
- Free Tier: Access to 6 Free Tools, public content, and limited features.
- Premium Tier: Full access to all 4 Premium Tools, unlimited use, and priority support. Pricing: $9.99/month or $99/year (save $20 with annual plan).
Payment Processing
All payments are processed securely through Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. We do not store your credit card information.
Auto-Renewal
Premium subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) unless you cancel before the renewal date. You will be charged the then-current subscription rate.
Cancellation
You may cancel your Premium subscription at any time from your account settings. Upon cancellation:
- You will retain Premium access until the end of your current billing period.
- No refund will be issued for the remaining days in your billing period.
- Your account will automatically convert to Free Tier at the end of the period.
Free Trial & Refund Policy
We offer a 7-day free trial for first-time Premium subscribers. During the trial period, you can cancel at any time without being charged. If you continue past the trial period, you will be charged the subscription price.
After your trial converts to a paid subscription, we offer a 30-day money-back guaranteefrom your first payment date. If you are not satisfied within 30 days of being charged, contact us at support@garrisonledger.com for a full refund.
Refunds are not available for renewals, one-time purchases (Ask Military Expert question packs), or after the 30-day period from first payment.
5) User Conduct
You agree to use the Platform only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Violate any applicable federal, state, local, or international law or regulation.
- Engage in any activity that interferes with or disrupts the Platform or servers/networks connected to the Platform.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Platform, other user accounts, or computer systems/networks.
- Use any automated system (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the Platform without our prior written permission.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive source code from the Platform.
- Resell, redistribute, or provide commercial access to the Platform or Content without authorization.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.
- Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or any other malicious code that may damage the Platform or other users' systems.
- Harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate other users or our staff.
Account Suspension/Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any violation of these Terms or for any other conduct we deem harmful to the Platform, other users, or us.
6) Intellectual Property
Platform Ownership
All Content, features, and functionality of the Platform—including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio clips, data compilations, software, and the compilation thereof—are the exclusive property of Family Media, LLC or its licensors and are protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.
Limited License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Platform for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. This license does not include:
- Any right to copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Platform.
- Any right to reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code.
- Any right to create derivative works based on the Platform.
User Content License
By uploading content to the Platform (e.g., LES documents, PCS receipts, questions to Ask Military Expert), you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, store, and process your content solely to provide the Services. We will not share your personal content publicly or use it for purposes unrelated to providing Services.
RAG Content Attribution
Ask Military Expert uses a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system that sources information from approximately 6,500 embedded content pieces, including premium guides, official military data (DFAS, JTR, DoD), and curated expert content. Sources are attributed where applicable, and all official data remains the property of the U.S. Government.
8) Data & Privacy
Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review the Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.
9) Disclaimers & Important Information
Your use of the Platform is also subject to our Disclosures & Important Information page, which includes critical disclaimers about:
- Financial, legal, and tax advice (we provide none)
- AI & machine learning limitations
- Projections and forward-looking statements
- Military affiliation (we are an independent platform)
The Disclosures page is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
10) Limitation of Liability
AS-IS BASIS: THE PLATFORM AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
NO LIABILITY FOR DAMAGES: TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FAMILY MEDIA, LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES RESULTING FROM:
- Your use or inability to use the Platform;
- Any unauthorized access to or use of our servers and/or any personal information;
- Any interruption or cessation of transmission to or from the Platform;
- Any bugs, viruses, or similar that may be transmitted to or through the Platform by any third party;
- Any errors or omissions in any Content;
- Any financial decisions made based on information, calculations, or guidance provided through the Platform.
MAXIMUM LIABILITY: IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL DAMAGES, LOSSES, OR CAUSES OF ACTION EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE PAST TWELVE (12) MONTHS, OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
11) Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Family Media, LLC, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to:
- Your violation of these Terms;
- Your use or misuse of the Platform;
- Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights;
- Any content you upload or submit to the Platform;
- Any financial decisions you make based on Platform content or tools.
12) Termination
Your Right to Terminate
You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Upon deletion, all your personal data will be permanently removed from our database in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Our Right to Terminate
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your account and access to the Platform immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including but not limited to:
- Breach of these Terms;
- Fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity;
- Non-payment of subscription fees;
- At our sole discretion if we believe termination is necessary to protect the Platform, other users, or us.
Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your right to use the Platform immediately ceases.
- All licenses granted to you under these Terms will immediately terminate.
- We may delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and data retention practices.
- Sections 6 (Intellectual Property), 10 (Limitation of Liability), 11 (Indemnification), and 13 (Governing Law) survive termination.
13) Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any legal action or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform shall be brought exclusively in the federal or state courts located in New York County, New York, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
Informal Dispute Resolution
Before filing a claim, we encourage you to contact us at support@garrisonledger.com to seek an informal resolution. Most disputes can be resolved quickly and amicably through direct communication.
14) Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by:
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page;
- Posting a notice on the Platform;
- Sending an email to the address associated with your account (for significant changes).
Your continued use of the Platform after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the Platform and may delete your account.
15) Miscellaneous
Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Disclosures page, constitute the entire agreement between you and Family Media, LLC regarding the Platform and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision.
Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights hereunder without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
Military Affiliation Disclaimer
Garrison Ledger is an independent platform created to serve military families. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to the U.S. Department of Defense, any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, or any government agency.
